Meet Maya and the story behind her adventures
Hi, I’m Elisa the creator behind ExploreWithMaya — but this story isn’t just mine.
It belongs to every child who’s ever looked at a coloring book and whispered:
“I wish I looked like her.”
Maya is a 10-year-old Jamaican girl with curly puffs, a suitcase full of dreams, and a heart full of curiosity. She explores Paris, Jamaica, Japan, and beyond — not as a tourist, but as a friend, a learner, and a proud daughter of the Caribbean.
I created these coloring books because I wanted Maya to be seen.
To be the hero.
To show children — especially Black girls — that they belong in every story, every country, every adventure.
Each page is more than just a coloring sheet. It’s a moment of connection:
A Jamaican grandmother braiding her granddaughter’s hair
A shared crêpe under the Eiffel Tower
A Japanese friend teaching the art of origami
No stereotypes. No clichés. Just real culture, real joy, real pride.

✏️ How It Works
All books are printable PDFs, designed for home printing (A4, 2:3 ratio).
Thick outlines for little hands
Simple English with cultural words (Patois, French, Japanese)
Educational moments woven into every scene
Perfect for quiet time, travel, homeschooling, or gifting.
🇯🇲 Created with Cultural Pride
I work with cultural consultants and artists to ensure every detail — from Grandma Esme’s wisdom to Maya’s natural hair — is respectful, accurate, and joyful.
Because representation isn’t just important.
It’s essential.
🌍 Why “ExploreWithMaya”?
Because curiosity is a superpower.
Because learning should feel like play.
And because every child deserves to grow up knowing their roots are strong — and their wings are ready to fly.
Thousands of families are already coloring the world with Maya.
Will yours be next?
